about

I have vague recollections of 1950s/60s Soho in London, the musicians, the clubs, the coffee bars and strip joints. Also the 1959 film "Expresso Bongo", a sanitised but still raunchy portrait of women and musicians being exploited. This track is also a chance to remember two of my childhood heroes, Edmundo Ros and Ronnie Scott. Musically a conversation between trumpet, tenor sax, electric guitar and bongos, featuring brilliant work by Mike Hall and Steve Waterman - not quite Latin jazz with my restless time signatures of 3/2, 6/4 and 5/4. I play guitar, bass and percussion. We really enjoyed recording this and I hope that comes across!
